An atmospheric tank is a storage vessel designed to operate at any pressure between ambient pressure and .5 psi. Designs range from extremely simple, such as an open top flat bottomed storage tank, to complex. Barring any hazardous or combustible materials, certifications are less common than other vessels. Increasing the pressure slightly, tanks are considered low pressure that operates between .5 and 14.9 psi. This, again, does not usually require certifications such as ASME due to the no or low-pressure ratings. MARKS manufactures tanks designed for atmospheric or low-pressure applications.

UL 142 specifies requirements for a steel primary, secondary, and/or diked-type atmospheric storage tank. It is specifically designed to store flammable and combustible liquids. API 650 is an alternative standard that covers the design and construction of steel, low-pressure storage tanks. These are designed for the storage of combustible liquids aat atmospheric pressure. By manufacturing to these standards, MARKS storage tanks can provide safe and reliable storage for a wide range of liquid materials, including potentially hazardous zones.
